Council asked: please explain on Plaza costs

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North -

IN the interests of more than 70,000 ratepayers, plus renters, seniors and pensioners, the Townsville City Council needs to clarify the following issues relating to the failed Flinders Plaza project:

• What incentives/dis-counts were given to Austexx and the Lancini group of companies.

• Are the council rates paid up to date. • Are the rates in arrears. • If the rates are in arrears, what is being done to bring them up to date.

• What infrastructure works were put in place in the mall redevelopment for the Flinders Plaza project, the cost and who bore the cost. While properties are being sold for non-payment of rates, a business in Kirwan being charged more than $ 200,000 for a material change of use and council permits, it is in the interests of the people of Townsville to have these issues of the failed project clarified.
