Moody unleashes assault
PETER Moody will launch a frenetic three state assault this weekend, headlined by Black Caviar in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes, that showcases the extraordinary depth of his stable.
The state’s leading trainer takes a two-pronged assault – Set For Fame and former Luca Cumani trained Becqu Adoree – on the Group 2 Sunline Stakes ( 1600 m) on the William Reid under card program.
Moody also holds a strong hand in Adelaide’s two Group 1s – the Robert Sangster and the Australasian Oaks while Anacheeva aims to add the Rosehill Guineas to his Caulfield Guineas success.
Last start Group 3 Irwin Stakes winner Avenue, to be ridden by Luke Nolen, and Panipique will run in the Sangster.
Unbeaten filly Lights Of Heaven seeks her fourth win in the $ 350,000 Australasian Oaks and prolific juven- ile winner Golden Archer will target his sixth win in Group 3 The Jansz ( 1200 m) at Morphettville.
And, on Sunday, Moody sends Master Harry to Sydney for Group 2 Challenge Stakes at Warwick Farm.
Two of Mick Kent’s emerging stars Domesky and Blackie may clash in Saturday week’s Tulloch Stakes.
Domesky, an impressive winner of last Friday night’s Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley, is headed to the $ 1.5 million AJC Australian Derby through the Tulloch Stakes ( 2000m).
But Kent said it was less likely Blackie would chase the Derby. ‘‘ You never say never, but Blackie looks better suited to shorter races than the Derby, at least now,’’ Kent said.
TAB Sportsbet markets have Blackie at $ 15 and Domesky at $ 21 for the AJC Australian Derby where another Victorian, Absolutelyawesome, is the $ 5 favourite.
