Family needs help to flee Japan crisis

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North - townsvillebulletin. com. au

I’m sorry, am I missing something? The family was able to scrape together thousands of dollars for airfare, but can’t find a hundred bucks to rent a minivan for four hours? Also, yet another instance of ‘‘ if you can’t afford four kids, then don’t HAVE four kids’’. Oh, and why does ‘‘ as a pensioner’’ automatically mean someone is destitute? It doesn’t, so why include that superfluous bit of extra information? I’m sure they’ll be fine, everyone. Just relax ... Posted by: Paul Anderson of Pimlico It certainly is an unfortunate position to be in but one of choice by this family. For Ms Fisher to slam the government for not sending planes to evacuate expats that have chosen to live overseas for 11 years, paid no taxes or made a contribution to our country in that time is simply ludicrous. The fact that the government will lend him the money to get his family home is generous enough! Posted by: JayJ Hear, hear Jay. I found it really arrogant last week hearing Aussies slamming the govt for not sending planes to pick them up in Japan. I just love how expats whine and whinge about the government from afar, without contributing one dollar in tax for many years. Let them pay their own way home so they can start paying tax, and probably some well overdue HECS. Posted by: Craigj
