Wishes stolen in well heist

HEART­LESS thieves have stolen ‘‘ lit­tle kids’ wishes’’, mak­ing off with a wish­ing well’s coins, be­lieved to be worth thou­sands of dol­lars. In an elab­o­rate heist, the thieves scaled a high fence at a Vic­to­rian theme park and drained the 2.5-me­tre­deep well be­fore cut­ting through a steel grate and tak­ing the coins on Sun­day night. Garry Mayer, the man­ager of Fairy Park in Anakie, said the well hadn’t been emp­tied for a decade, adding he had planned to col­lect the coins be­fore win­ter, but the thieves got in first.
