Workshops help growers with new laws
HORTICULTURE body Growcom is set to stage its annual Workplace Essentials workshops across northern Queensland’s horticulture regions next month.
The workshops will include presentations by Immigration Department outreach officers and AustSafe Super experts and will outline growers’ rights and obligations under the Horticulture Award 2010 and the transitional provisions.
They will be staged at Tully ( April 4), I nnisfail ( April 5), Mareeba ( April 7), Townsville ( April 18) Ayr ( April 19) and Bowen ( April 20).
Issues to be addressed include moving sole traders and partnerships into the new Federal Fair Work system; managing staff to bring out the best in them, tips for induction, performance management, skills development and staff retention.
Cost of the workshop ( including a full resource kit and Employer Guide) i s $ 300 plus GST f or Growcom members and $ 500 plus GST for non-members.
