Lohan deal tipped

Townsville Bulletin - - The Goss -

LINDSAY Lohan is returning to Los Angeles as the deadline approaches for her decision on the plea deal offered her in the case of her alleged necklace theft.

Lohan was spotted out and about in New York last week for a reunion with her family but the Lohan gathering came to an end Monday as she was due to return to the Golden State.

Sources close to the troubled actress told celebrity website Radar Online that her return to the West Coast was a sign she is strongly considering accepting the plea after she was charged with felony grand theft for allegedly walking out of a j ewellery boutique without paying for a $ 2500 gold necklace on January 22.

The plea deal includes a 90-day jail sentence, which Lohan initially baulked at because she believed she could prove her innocence at trial. However, the 24-year-old actress – currently on probation for a 2007 DUI offence – is reported to now be considering the deal.

‘ ‘ Lindsay appears to now grasp the severity of the situation if she doesn’t take the plea deal,’’ a source close to Lohan said.

If Lohan decides to pass on the deal, the preliminary hearing for her trial will be held April 22.

‘‘ This case does involve jail time, period,’’ Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Douglas Schwartz told Lohan in February.
