Aussie falls to death in NZ
AN Australian woman is dead and a man is injured after they fell on a glacier in New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park yesterday. Police believe they were climbing on the Korako Glacier when they lost their footing and fell, sliding some distance over a broken ice field. Sgt Tod Hollebon said the Rescue Co-ordination Centre was alerted to an emergency locator beacon activation in the glacier area and dispatched helicopter from Te Anau. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
