A FIVE-year sentence for a rapist has prompted the Victorian Director of Public Prosecutions to demand tougher punishments in the Court of Appeal. Paul Holdenson, SC, for the DPP, said sentences for rape in Victoria were not reflecting the maximum 25-year penalty. He argued they also do not reflect the crime’s gravity, citing the five-year judgement.
