Spirit of fortitude shone through from Japanese
FOR many years we have been introducing Japan to North Queensland. In particular, many families and schools have hosted Japanese students from one of our groups. These students always manage to show tremendous spirit as they explore a new lifestyle and adapt to living in our city. We are always impressed with their polite manner, friendly nature and curiosity with our daily life.
Our respect has been especially strong for the students of Matsumodo Agatagaoka High School.
This group, from Nagano City in Japan have spent their days at Town High and Kirwan High Schools.
During their stay they have showed us that spirit is not something found only in Queensland and they have displayed a unique form of bravery.
When t he earthquake struck Japan, the group waited at Narita Airport, alone and shaken until many host families began sending emails of concern and encouragement to them. The comfort of these messages was an important reason in the group’s decision to forge ahead and embodied the nature of these study tours.
Matsumodo Agatagaoka, on behalf of everyone involved with your tour, thank you for visiting us.
You have all been wonderful ambassadors for your country and shown great courage.
It has been a pleasure to see you put aside your concerns and embrace days of Crocs, Cowboys, mozzies, Maggie and Maccas. Use your happy memories from here to fuel your resolve and never forget the confidence you found in yourself while in North Queensland. Nihon Ganbatte ( Good luck Japan). GEOFF AND KAZUYO RAASCH,
