OAKAJEE Port & Rail ( OPR) says another party could take over operations at its over-budget $ 5.23 billion port and rail development in Western Australia’s mid west region. WA Premier Colin Barnett yesterday said Japan’s Mitsubishi, which is developing the project with iron ore miner Murchison Metals Ltd, was talking with Chinese officials about their possible involvement. At a conference in Perth, OPR chief executive John Langoulant said another party could emerge in the development, which will provide a new export channel for mid west iron ore mines. ‘‘ We hope a third parties can entice us for them to operate the railway or the port operations,’’ he said.
