No Foxtel bid for Austar
John Porter AUSTAR United Communications says there’s still no formal proposal from Foxtel to buy the regional pay television operator. Austar chief executive John Porter yesterday said nothing had changed since the company told of talks between Foxtel and Austar’s majority owner, Liberty Global, earlier this month. On March 2, Austar said ‘‘ verbal discussions have taken place between Foxtel and Liberty in relation to a possible acquisition of Austar’’. Liberty, controlled by US billionaire John Malone, holds a 54 per cent stake in Austar.
