Biggest Loser contestant jailed for child porn
A CONTESTANT on The Biggest Loser who had to be edited out of the show after being arrested for possessing child pornography has been jailed for the offence.
Former Townsville Grammar student Deryck James Ward, 28, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court yesterday to four counts of using a carriage service to access child pornographic material and one count of possessing child exploitation material.
The offences occurred between December 2009 and January last year.
Ward was a r r e s t e d o n January 16 last year after police found the objectionable material at his home at Gaythorne, in Brisbane’s north-west. Ward was sentenced to two years’ jail, and will be released on a good behaviour bond after serving six months.
He and his sister had been contestants on the fifth season of the reality television series The Biggest Loser.
After Ward was charged, they were edited out of the show before it went to air.
