Nelson- Carr: sick of picking up slack

Townsville Bulletin - - News -

MEMBER for Mundingburra Lindy Nelson-Carr said she didn’t want the State Government lumped with the full cost of a new entertainment and convention centre.

‘‘ The problem with this council is if ratepayers don’t want to pay this extra money then they’re going to ask the state to pay it all,’’ she said.

‘‘ Townsville City Council, under Les Tyrell and David Crisafulli, is very very keen to get the State Government to pay for everything and it drives me crazy. That’s their track record.’’

Ms Nelson-Carr said she would wait and see what response Member for Thuringowa Craig Wallace’s letter got.

‘‘ I am getting sick of the State Government picking up the slack for water, sewage and public swimming pools,’’ she said.

‘‘ It would be great to have a new entertainment centre but Townsville City Council should be honest as to how much it will cost.

‘‘ I don’t know what council proposes to contribute.’’

Ms Nelson-Carr said her constituents didn’t want to pay any further rate increases.
