Bank scam nearly got me too

Townsville Bulletin - - Voice Of The North -

RE: New Scam, About Town with Mary Vernon, Thursday March 24.

I also had the same phone call about the bank owing me money and I went further with it. They get you to go to the Post Office and get a Western Union transfer form then ring them from the Post Office and they tell you how to fill out the form.

They wanted me to use the name Johnson Adesegun. I might add I questioned everything they told me. They said I had to pay them $ 180 dollars to do all this – that is when I said I had no money in my account to pay.

He said go to the machine and get it. I said I would have to go to the bank. He said you go to the bank and I’ll ring you in half an hour.

We went home instead and when he rang my husband told him off. They said I had $ 3120 dollars to collect. If you read the Western Union form it tells you to send nothing to anyone you don’t know.

I rang my bank and they confirmed it was a hoax.
