Local duo sharing Shakespearean skills
TALENT: Home-grown acting talents Brendan O’Connor and Terri Brabon are back in town for Shakespeare Under the Stars FOR some Townsville actors all the world’s a stage and they have spent two days perfecting their talents as part of a ‘‘ Shakespearean boot camp’’.
The event was the first of what is hoped will be many ma s t e r c l a s s e s h e l d b y Brendan O’Connor and Terri Brabon, who are part of the Australian Shakespeare Company based in Melbourne.
The former Townsville actors return home each y e a r t o h e l p p r o d u c e T o w n s v i l l e ’ s a n n u a l Shakespeare Under The Stars and took this chance to develop their future potential cast’s skills.
Ms Brabon said 20 actors had been included in the workshop after their performance in last year’s production of Richard III.
She said the boot camp was not an audition, and used Shakespearean pieces other than The Merry Wives of Windsor, for which they will audition and perform this year.
‘‘ The camp was held over two weeks so they had one week in between to digest the information and work o n t h e i r s c e n e s , ’ ’ M s Brabon said.
‘‘ We were really proud of the results.’’
