Lo­cal duo shar­ing Shake­spearean skills

TAL­ENT: Home-grown acting tal­ents Bren­dan O’Con­nor and Terri Brabon are back in town for Shake­speare Un­der the Stars FOR some Townsville ac­tors all the world’s a stage and they have spent two days per­fect­ing their tal­ents as part of a ‘‘ Shake­spearean boot camp’’.

The event was the first of what is hoped will be many ma s t e r c l a s s e s h e l d b y Bren­dan O’Con­nor and Terri Brabon, who are part of the Aus­tralian Shake­speare Com­pany based in Mel­bourne.

The for­mer Townsville ac­tors re­turn home each y e a r t o h e l p p r o d u c e T o w n s v i l l e ’ s a n n u a l Shake­speare Un­der The Stars and took this chance to de­velop their fu­ture po­ten­tial cast’s skills.

Ms Brabon said 20 ac­tors had been in­cluded in the work­shop af­ter their per­for­mance in last year’s pro­duc­tion of Richard III.

She said the boot camp was not an au­di­tion, and used Shake­spearean pieces other than The Merry Wives of Wind­sor, for which they will au­di­tion and per­form this year.

‘‘ The camp was held over two weeks so they had one week in be­tween to di­gest the in­for­ma­tion and work o n t h e i r s c e n e s , ’ ’ M s Brabon said.

‘‘ We were re­ally proud of the re­sults.’’
