New- look Runaways Navy have Vixens locked in their sights tonight

Townsville Bulletin - - Local Sports -

A NEW-LOOK Runaways Navy are keen to give the Townsville Premier Netball League a shake up.

After enjoying a comfortable 49-27 triumph over the Saints Sirens in round one they set the tone, and with Vixens 2 on the horizon tonight, Runaways Navy are keen to continue stamping their class.

‘‘ The girls have really gelled well together this year,’’ coach Pam Mennell said. ‘‘ We are a different team this year, only a few of the same players from last year. Virtually our shooters are the same with the addition of Katrina Pearce.’’

Runaways will go without one of their key defenders, Sian Roberts, who also missed last week’s game due to a knee injury. Mennell admitted she was a big loss.

‘‘ But we won without her last week and I’m confident again,’’ she said.

It is the first time Vixens 2 have played in the Premier League and they are still finding their feet, not only as a new team but also playing up the extra level.

They will be looking to improve on t h e i r l o s s l a s t w e e k a g a i n s t Highlanders ( 48-30).

In the final match, Saints Sirens will be keen to improve on their disappointing loss to Runaways Navy last week when they come up against their club mates Saints Saloons.
