AUS­TRALIA has been ad­vised it should re-en­act the 1914 con­voy t hat car­ried t roops t o Gal­lipoli to com­mem­o­rate the An­zac cen­te­nary.

An o t h e r r e c o mmend a t i o n from a gov­ern­ment com­mis­sion sug­gests es­tab­lish­ment of a univer­sity in­sti­tute to study peace and the dy­nam­ics of con­flict.

These and other rec­om­men­da­tions fol­low the re­view of how Aus­tralia s hould mark t he An­zac Cen­te­nary and the 100 years of ser­vice un­der the An­zac tra­di­tion since.

The An­zac cen­te­nary com­mis­sion, whose mem­bers in­clude f o r m e r p r i m e m i n i s t e r s M a l c o l m F r a s e r a n d B o b Hawke, handed its fi­nal re­port to Prime Min­is­ter Ju­lia Gil­lard y e s t e r d a y . Est a b l i s hi ng a n An­zac Cen­tre for the study of peace, con­flict and war is a key rec­om­men­da­tion.
