Townsville Bulletin - - Inside Today -

ANOTHER milestone has been reached in the $ 40 million Jezzine Barracks redevelopment in North Ward. Townsville contractors are set to increase their chances of winning work on the site through a workshop to be held today. Townsville Mayor, Cr Les Tyrell said the Jezzine Barracks would stimulate the local economy with the creation of jobs. ‘‘ The development is expected to create more than 200 jobs during construction and add more than $ 11 million to pay packets and we’re committed to using locals wherever possible,’’ he said. ‘‘ The Jezzine redevelopment is a great opportunity for local contractors and suppliers and we encourage businesses to get involved.’’ A free workshop has been scheduled to help Townsville companies become part of the project. The workshop is on today at the Riverway Arts Centre. Registration starts at 10.15am with the workshop starting at 10.30am.
