EF­FORTS to lift the num­ber of tourists vis­it­ing the Townsville re­gion in the wake of Cy­clone Yasi have been given a boost with a trip to the city by eight me­dia rep­re­sen­ta­tives.

The jour­nal­ists ar­rived in the city on Satur­day for a four-day stay end­ing yes­ter­day that in­cluded vis­its to South Townsville’s hos­pi­tal­ity precinct, Mag­netic Is­land, and the Hid­den Val­ley eco re­sort on the Paluma Range.

The eight com­prise two free­lance jour­nal­ists and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of mag­a­zines, news­pa­pers and a news ser­vice.

They are among 200 over­seas and Aus­tralian me­dia rep­re­sen­ta­tives tour­ing ar­eas of Queens­land as part of a $ 10 mil­lion tourism in­dus­try re­cov­ery ini­tia­tive launched by state and fed­eral gov­ern­ments through Tourism Aus­tralia and Tourism Queens­land un­der the banner Noth­ing Beats Queens­land.
