Morcombe witness had kidnapped child before
A MAN who once kidnapped and raped a young boy was investigated over the abduction of Daniel Morcombe.
Person of interest P5 took the stand in the Brisbane Coroners Court yesterday and publicly denied any involvement i n 1 3 - year-ol d Daniel’s disappearance.
The court was told he became a person of interest in the case because he had already shown a ‘‘ capability and inclination’’ to snatch and abuse children in similar circumstances.
The court was t old P5 served nine years behind bars after abducting a nineyear-old boy who was riding his bike down a road in Gladstone in 1995.
‘‘ You are one of the very few people out of jail at that stage who has shown the capability and t he i nclination to snatch a young boy from a public area in broad daylight . . . that’s an incredibly rare crime,’’ Peter Johns, counsel assisting state coroner Michael Barnes, said to P5.
