Meteor seen in NZ sky
A METEOR spotted over New Zealand could have been the size of a desk. Reports of a bright flashing light in the sky on Tuesday night were received from Auckland and as far south as Wellington. Depending on what the meteor was made up of, it could have been anywhere from the size of a handbag to as big as a desk, Carter Observatory programs officer John Field said. Eyewitness reports described a very bright blue light which lit up the sky. Police said they received about a dozen calls from people concerned that the light was an emergency flare being set off.
