Man slashed by boat propeller
A MAN was flown to Townsville Hospital after he was injured by a boat’s propeller in an incident near Ravenswood.
Townsville’s GovAir emergency rescue helicopter was sent to Burdekin Falls Dam about 9.30am yesterday to assist the 60- year- old man, who was believed to have fallen from a boat into the water.
It was unclear how the man made it to shore before he was treated for a laceration to his underarm and head injuries at a nearby caravan park.
He was flown to hospital at 11.30am and remained in a stable condition in hospital late yesterday. Police have been notified of the incident.
Meanwhile, two people were hospitalised after falling off their horses in two separate incidents south of Townsville.
At 7.55am, paramedics were called to a private property on Dean Rd at Giru were a boy, 16, was riding a horse when it is believed the animal clipped a fence, fell and landed on him.
The teenager was taken to Townsville Hospital with a possible fractured pelvis.
Less than two hours later, a 64- year- old man was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after he fell off a horse and broke his leg.
Both patients were in a stable condition in Townsville Hospital yesterday afternoon.
