Man slashed by boat pro­pel­ler

A MAN was flown to Townsville Hos­pi­tal af­ter he was in­jured by a boat’s pro­pel­ler in an in­ci­dent near Ravenswood.

Townsville’s GovAir emer­gency res­cue he­li­copter was sent to Bur­dekin Falls Dam about 9.30am yesterday to as­sist the 60- year- old man, who was be­lieved to have fallen from a boat into the wa­ter.

It was un­clear how the man made it to shore be­fore he was treated for a lac­er­a­tion to his un­der­arm and head in­juries at a nearby car­a­van park.

He was flown to hos­pi­tal at 11.30am and re­mained in a sta­ble con­di­tion in hos­pi­tal late yesterday. Po­lice have been no­ti­fied of the in­ci­dent.

Mean­while, two peo­ple were hos­pi­talised af­ter fall­ing off their horses in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents south of Townsville.

At 7.55am, paramedics were called to a pri­vate prop­erty on Dean Rd at Giru were a boy, 16, was rid­ing a horse when it is be­lieved the an­i­mal clipped a fence, fell and landed on him.

The teenager was taken to Townsville Hos­pi­tal with a pos­si­ble frac­tured pelvis.

Less than two hours later, a 64- year- old man was taken to hos­pi­tal in a se­ri­ous but sta­ble con­di­tion af­ter he fell off a horse and broke his leg.

Both pa­tients were in a sta­ble con­di­tion in Townsville Hos­pi­tal yesterday af­ter­noon.
