Gib­son given time to an­swer

CAN­CER con Belle Gib­son has been taken to court for fail­ing to an­swer ques­tions on al­le­ga­tions of fundrais­ing fraud.

Con­sumer Af­fairs Vic­to­ria be­gan in­ves­ti­gat­ing the “well­ness” blog­ger in March af­ter it was re­ported sev­eral char­i­ties had not re­ceived thou­sands of dol­lars in promised do­na­tions from the sale of her The Whole Pantry app.

Mel­bourne Mag­is­trates Court yesterday to de­mand she an­swer 27 ques­tions, in­clud­ing whether she ever suf­fered brain can­cer.

Blair Ussher, for CAV, said Ms Gib­son ( right) had been granted a two- week ex­ten­sion to pro­vide doc­u­ments, but an hour be­fore the dead­line sought a de­lay, say­ing her lawyer was on hol­i­days. Mag­is­trate Michael Smith gave Ms Gib­son un­til next Thurs­day.
