Utes pick- up pace for student

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - CHARLIE PEEL

A FLEET of V8 utes is being tweaked and honed by a lucky group of Townsville students ahead of the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400 on July 10- 12.

The five utes from the Sydney- based Sieders Racing stable are at Tec- NQ, where the Sieders team and students, including Year 11 automotive student Aaron Stanley, prepare the engines for a heavy weekend of racing.

“This is such a great oppor- tunity and I’m so grateful to have been given this chance,” Aaron said. “I don’t think I would have ever been able to do something like this if I was at any other school.

“I can’t wait to learn everything I can about these awesome race vehicles.”

Sieders Racing owner Luke Sieders is excited about his team’s prospects in the V8 Super Utes race.

“We have a great team which includes David Sieders a consistent front runner, new comer Bruce Oaklands, Rhys McNally who was on the podium here last year, Jeremy Gray who has just achieved a second and third in Darwin.

“And of course we have popular local driver Graham Edwards who is a strong contender at his home round with the local crowd supporting him,” Mr Sieders said.

“The Townsville street racing makes for great viewing and we have some very loyal fans here who make the weekend a highlight ... for us.”
