PAGEANT A CHANCE TO HELP KIDS
BEAUTY therapist Crystal Ludice is no stranger to modelling but she’s ready to take her catwalk career one step further.
The 26- year- old Kelso woman ( pictured) is getting ready to travel to Melbourne next month to compete in a beauty pageant with the bonus goal of helping children in developing countries.
Ms Ludice is a contestant in Face of the Globe Australia, a charity fundraiser for the Rainbow Child Foundation. She said she’s looking forward to the experience.
“I’ve done modelling but I’ve never done a beauty pageant before,” she said.
“It’s more based on confidence and presence where modelling is more about your look.”
Ms Ludice’s employee Endota Day Spa Magnetic Island has sponsored her to enter the competition and now she’s stepping up her fundraising, selling raffle tickets and lolly bags with plans to hit shopping centre to try to drum up some cash.
She said her colleagues were supportive of her.
“They think it’s good and they’re excited for me,” she said.
The winner of the Melbourne pageant will fly to Paris and London to compete against women from across the world in the grand final.
Competitors will strut their stuff in evening wear, learn a dance routine and be interviewed by a panel of judges.
The pageant takes place from August 28 to 30.
