IT WAS clear as mud d thath young­sters en­joyed them­selves at the 28th an­nual Mud Day in Detroit.

Work­ers spent a week cre­at­ing a mud pit of 200 tonnes of soil and 75,700 litres­lit of wa­tert r for the event event, which is only open to chil­dren 12 and un­der.

A steady down­pour made it one of the mud­di­est en­coun­ters yet and ea­ger par­tic­i­pants dived right in.

Six Six- year- old Emileigh Pow­ers ( pic­tured) was crowned the 2015 Queen of Mud, hav­ing piled the most mud pos­si­ble on her­self.

“I have mud all over. It feels awe­some!” she said.
