Labor’s rego hike not fair on motorists

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

ON July 1, the Palaszczuk Labor Government increased the cost of registration for 4, 6 and 8- cylinder vehicles by two and a half times the rate of inflation. Such a significant increase in a single year is unfair.

Under the former LNP Government, vehicle registration had been frozen for three years because we were aware of the cost- of- living pressure Labor’s constant rego hikes were placing on Queenslanders.

The LNP moved a disallowance motion in the Queensland Parliament to try and stop the 3.5 per cent increase. Despite being given a chance to stand up for their electorates, all Labor and both Independent MPs voted for it.

It looks like Labor is going back to its bad old habits of treating Queensland taxpayers like cash cows.
