Stinger’s try not enough
A MATCH- levelling try from Townsville Stingers player Enari Tuala was not enough for Queensland to secure a place in this year’s Australian Schools open championship grand final.
Queensland trailed New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges 16- 10 at half- time, before Tuala scored seven minutes after the break for Queensland to claw its way to 16- all.
Queensland then went ahead 20- 16 with a unconverted try, but NSWCCC finished stronger to post two late tries and seal the 24- 20 semi- final win.
New South Wales Combined High Schools defeated New South Wales Combined Independent Schools 16- 14 in the other semi, meaning today’s decider in Wollongong is an allNSW affair.
