Crippled pup learns life’s wheelie fun

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - CLAIRE MARTIN

ON the mend – a puppy’s new set of wheels has his tail wagging once again.

Elton the foster puppy broke his back 12 months ago jumping off his carer’s couch. He was instantly paralysed but thanks to a group of dedicated Victorian volunteers, the puppy has pawed his way back to life.

After the incident Elton ( pictured) was given a 50/ 50 chance of walking again, and carers decided to go ahead with a risky surgery.

A wheelchair was recently donated and he’s been able to cycle his way to new strengths.

Victorian Dog Rescue president Trisha Taylor said thanks to hydrotherapy and his new wheels, Elton has been able to make good progress. “Elton is so close to walking now – we want to get him into the best condition possible because he’s just such a lovely dog,” she said.
