Singer rehab claim ‘ rubbish’

Townsville Bulletin - - LIFESTYLE -

BRITISH pop veteran George Michael has reached out to fans online to dismiss reports suggesting he is in rehab battling an addiction to crack cocaine, branding the allegations “rubbish”.

Michael was initially rumoured to have checked in to the Kusnacht Practice treatment facility in Switzerland in June, but his representative denied the claims at the time, insisting the singer was simply enjoying an extended holiday in Europe.

Michael hit headlines again on Sunday after Jackie Georgiou, the wife of the singer’s second cousin Andros, alleged the family had recently visited the star in rehab, telling Britain’s The Sun newspaper he was a “bewildered, drug- addled wreck”.

But Michael insists he is doing well and hasn’t been in contact with the extended family relative in almost two decades.
