Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

THE Australian Border Force has uncovered explosives dating back to World War II in a shipping container at Port of Townsville. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection said the ABF found the explosives on a ship bound for Townsville from Papua New Guinea on July 13. “( Officers found) deteriorated and unexploded ordinance inside a container on board a vessel from PNG,” a spokesman said. “The items have been … transferred to the Australian Defence Force, which is assisting ABF in identifying the risks involved in their disposal.” Investigations are continuing.
