Fanta ad a fizzer

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

A FANTA television advertisement has been pulled from screens after it was found to breach advertising guidelines by marketing an unhealthy drink directly to children.

The Advertising Standards Board ruled the commercial — which features cartoon characters riding on a rollercoaster and jumping into a pool filled with bubbles — was aimed at children aged less than 12.

After ruling the soft drink could not be considered “a healthy food choice” the ABS upheld a complaint by the Obesity Policy Coalition ( OPC) and the drink’s makers Coca- Cola agreed not to show it again in Australia.
