Swell time gone with the wind
SOUTHERN Queensland is facing strong winds and a chance of snow or sleet in the border high country tonight and early tomorrow.
Pounding seas are also expected as an east coast low builds off southern NSW.
Brisbane can expect winds of 45km/ h tomorrow, with some gusts much stronger.
Weather bureau forecaster Diana Eadie said a high of 17C was forecast for tomorrow, compared to the July average maximum of 20.4C.
“We expect to issue a strong wind warning for Brisbane,’’ she said. “Friday morning will be cold, especially in Brisbane because of strong ( westerly) winds pushing through again.’’
Clean and relatively calm conditions enjoyed by surfer Ellie- Jean Coffey yesterday ( right) were to be replaced with a swell of 2- 3m on the Gold Coast and 1.5- 2.5m on the Sunshine Coast.
