Goodrem uses songwriting to fly past Jessie J controversy

DELTA Goodrem may be in a battle with Jessie J on The Voice but she’s expressing her power through song.

The singer, who has been going through some onscreen disagreements with her fellow coach on the Nine Network reality show, has announced she will release a new single later this month. Wings was written by Goodrem and production company DNA.

“I wanted to make sure I had a song that incorporated all the things that make me feel like a powerful woman. You always want a song to represent where you are now,” Goodrem said.

“Wings just feels fresh. The meaning of the song is about looking for new horizons, everybody is looking for a second chance.”

Apart from embracing second chances, Goodrem says she’s also learnt how to let things go.

“I wanted Wings to convey that liberated feeling; with a bit of wildness meets a bit of letting go. That’s been a big theme, where I’ve kind of let a lot go. These wings are made to fly,” she said.
