Hackett back in the big time
EXACTLY 10 years after he last won a world title, Grant Hackett will leave for Russia tomorrow confident he can cap his stunning comeback by standing on the world championships podium next month in Kazan. The former distance king yesterday announced a new sponsorship deal with Speedo and confirmed he would pursue a fourth Olympic Games in Rio next year at the age of 36. Hackett’s immediate focus is helping to lead the Australian 4x200m freestyle relay team in Kazan. The winner of Olympic gold over 1500 metres in 2000 and 2004 last stood on a world titles podium in Montreal a decade ago.
