Lucky to have such a great hospital

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

I’M a 73- year- old native of our wonderful city. My doctor determined that I had developed a heart murmur.

Testing revealed that my aortic valve needed to be replaced. I was referred to the Cardiac Clinic at the Townsville Hospital.

A lot has been said and written about Queensland Health, and the hospital in particular. A lot of what has been said has been negative and even party political.

From my initial visit, the follow up testing that was required, to my open heart surgery that followed, I found the doctors, nurses and all of the non- medical staff to be absolutely wonderful.

They were extremely professional, caring and a credit to themselves and the hospital in general.

Residents of Townsville, and the surrounding areas can feel lucky that we have such a well- run medical facility.

I will always be very grateful for my operation, and the extended years that I have been given.

KEL ACKLAND, Bushland Beach.
