Labor driving rego costs too high

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

THE former LNP Government delivered a freeze on the cost of motor vehicle registration for the three years it was in office in Queensland.

In contrast, the Palaszczuk Government’s first budget has delivered an increase in motor vehicle registration, more than double the rate of inflation.

The LNP tried to stop Labor’s 3.5 per cent increase by moving to disallow it in the Queensland Parliament, but all Labor and both Independent MPs voted for it.

The LNP is concerned about how this unfair grab for cash by Labor will impact on Queensland families.

That’s why the LNP has committed to not increasing motor vehicle registration by more than inflation for the re- mainder of the term, if the LNP were to form government.

The LNP has a strong record of responsible financial management, and our commitment to tackle this cost of living issue is credible.

The Palaszczuk Government’s inexperience and lack of an economic plan is obvious.

ANDREW CRIPPS MP, Member for Hinchinbrook.
