Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - TONY RAGGATT

IT might be chilly for taking a dip but that has not stopped Angus and Emily Stewart taking the plunge on a new swimming pool franchise at Townsville.

The couple have headed north from the Sunshine Coast and opened a Narellan Pools franchise.

“We decided that Townsville held many opportunities to grow our business, especially with the tropical climate people enjoy in the north of the state,” Mr Stewart said.

“But we know that despite the warmer weather here there is always the threat of stingers and crocs, something we don’t have to deal with down south when planning a trip to the beach.

“A swim in the pool during the heat is a much better option and we are hoping our logic pays off and allows us to establish a thriving business here in the North.”

The Stewarts were attracted to Townsville after several family holidays in the region.

The couple have leased premises at Rendle St, Aitkenvale, and will hold opening events this weekend.

Mr Stewart previously worked with Sunshine Coast franchisees Mark and Tanya Martin who do- nated a swimming pool to raise $ 30,000 toward the Give Me Five for Kids fund and said he planned to keep up the Narellan tradition.

“Working with Mark for the past eight years, I learned so much about the importance of being communityminded,” Mr Stewart said.
