Em­ploy­ers of abo­rig­i­nals have been ad­vised that un­less they in­sure them they will be per­son­ally li­able for dam­ages as in the case of a Euro­pean em­ployee. There were 24 ap­pli­ca­tions re­ceived by the Har­bour Board on Thurs­day for the po­si­tion of elec­tri­cal engi­neer. The Board went into com­mit­tee to re­ceive the ap­pli­ca­tions and it was de­cided to re­fer the mat­ter to a sub­com­mit­tee con­sist­ing of Messrs Chap­man, Swales, Ward and Hon J. Hodel for con­sid­er­a­tion and re­port to next meet­ing.
