Ac­co­lades as hos­pi­tal chief calls it quits

T O W N S V I L L E h o s p i t a l ’ s chief ex­ec­u­tive has re­signed af­ter less than three years to join the Cen­tral Ade­laide Lo­cal Health Net­work.

Ju­lia Squire ( pic­tured) took the hos­pi­tal’s top job in 2012, af­ter 14 years work­ing for the UK’s Na­tional Health Ser­vice.

She will leave on Oc­to­ber 16 be­fore start­ing her new role as the CALHN’s chief ex­ec­u­tive.

“I have thor­oughly en­joyed my time here and my fam­ily has been warmly wel­comed,” Mrs Squire said.

“I’m very proud of what has been achieved for our com­mu­ni­ties and very proud of the peo­ple that come to work across our health ser­vice ev­ery day mak­ing pa­tient care their sin­gle most im­por­tant pri­or­ity.”

Townsville Hos­pi­tal and Health Ser­vice chair­man John Bearne said he had ac­cepted Mrs Squire’s res­ig­na­tion with a heavy heart. “Ju­lia has done an out­stand­ing job tak­ing the Townsville HHS to new per­for­mance highs in terms of wait times, pa­tient safety and qual­ity care,” he said.

Mr Bearne said re­cruit­ing to fill Mrs Squire’s po­si­tion would be­gin in com­ing months .
