Accolades as hospital chief calls it quits
T O W N S V I L L E h o s p i t a l ’ s chief executive has resigned after less than three years to join the Central Adelaide Local Health Network.
Julia Squire ( pictured) took the hospital’s top job in 2012, after 14 years working for the UK’s National Health Service.
She will leave on October 16 before starting her new role as the CALHN’s chief executive.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and my family has been warmly welcomed,” Mrs Squire said.
“I’m very proud of what has been achieved for our communities and very proud of the people that come to work across our health service every day making patient care their single most important priority.”
Townsville Hospital and Health Service chairman John Bearne said he had accepted Mrs Squire’s resignation with a heavy heart. “Julia has done an outstanding job taking the Townsville HHS to new performance highs in terms of wait times, patient safety and quality care,” he said.
Mr Bearne said recruiting to fill Mrs Squire’s position would begin in coming months .
