Wrong man mentioned

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

IN MY letter published recently I made the comment that it had been reported that the previous law firm of Senator Eric Abetz stood to gain $ 17 million from its involvement with the royal commission into trade unions. In doing so I relied upon a statement made by Labor’s Joel Fitzgibbon.

However, Mr Fitzgibbon has now pointed out it was the law firm of the Attorney- General, Senator George Brandis. Mr Fitzgibbon apologised to Senator Abetz.

I do not see the need to apologise as I made it clear the assertion was not mine and I doubt Senator Abetz would feel aggrieved by anything I might say. However, I believe your readers should be made aware.

KEN McELLIGOTT,

Townsville.
