ANOTHER RED LETTER DAY

Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT - VAL MIGLIACCIO

LIVERPOOL comfortably conquered Adelaide United 2- 0 in a battle of the Reds at Adelaide Oval last night.

James Milner and Danny Ings’ second half goals handed Liverpool a perfect preseason record on the 2015 tour after James Jeggo losing possession in midfield cost Adelaide dearly.

Milner claimed the Jeggo turnover before skipper Jordan Henderson was involved in the build- up which led to the goal.

Henderson rolled the ball out wide for Jordan Ibe before his cross was cutely tucked in the back of the net by Milner in the 67th minute. Milner ended his shift six minutes later for Lucas.

Ings then made it 2- 0 when Nathaniel Clyne’s through ball caught Adelaide square at the back be- fore he rounded Eugene Galekovic to tuck the ball home. But after a mainly pedestrian first half where Liverpool clearly showed why it had recently spent about $ 70 million to lure forward Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, the club did help smash a record SA soccer crowd which was set last year.

More than fans 53,000 fans turned up last night, beating the previous attendance mark of 33,000.
