Luke to bounce around bans

Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT -

ISSAC Luke has vowed not to allow another suspension to rob him of the chance to complete his legacy at the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

After the heartbreak of missing last year’s grand final, the hooker will return from another one- game ban when his side takes on the Knights in Sydney on Saturday night.

In his final season at South Sydney, Luke said the suspension for his recent dangerous throw on Penrith’s Tyrone Peachey was a timely reminder.

Luke opened up about his “honest” relationship with coach Michael ‘‘ Madge’’ Maguire that led to his dumping to the bench this year.

He also spoke about the homesickness that made him want to return to New Zealand next year to join the Warriors.

He said it was during a conversation with his father at last year’s Four Nations that he realised “it was time”.

Asked if he was angry at the time of his demotion, Luke said: “We drive each other to be accountable for our own actions and we have to live with it. Me and ‘ Madge’ get on.’’
