He’ll be Api who­ever coach is

WHEN Pen­rith hooker Api Koroisau first signed with Manly, he thought Trent Bar­rett – not Ge­off Toovey – would be head coach.

Koroisau re­vealed yesterday he was un­der the im­pres­sion then Pan­thers as­sis­tant Bar­rett would be in charge.

Toovey has tried to keep the Sea Ea­gles’ fi­nals hopes alive but it has be­come the game’s worst se­cret he will make way for Bar­rett in 2016.

As Bar­rett was given leave by Pen­rith af­ter news emerged about his new role, Koroisau and fel­low Pan­thers for­ward Lewis Brown were also lured to Manly. Ko r o i s a u a n d

Br o w n said Bar­rett had noth­ing to do with the move.

As for who he thought he would be play­ing un­der at Manly, Koroisau said: “I thought he ( Bar­rett) was go­ing to be ( coach) when ev­ery­thing took off, but I couldn’t be cer­tain. ‘‘ We’ll have to see what hap­pens, es­pe­cially now with Toovey get­ting a cou­ple of wins un­der his belt.’’
