He’ll be Api whoever coach is
WHEN Penrith hooker Api Koroisau first signed with Manly, he thought Trent Barrett – not Geoff Toovey – would be head coach.
Koroisau revealed yesterday he was under the impression then Panthers assistant Barrett would be in charge.
Toovey has tried to keep the Sea Eagles’ finals hopes alive but it has become the game’s worst secret he will make way for Barrett in 2016.
As Barrett was given leave by Penrith after news emerged about his new role, Koroisau and fellow Panthers forward Lewis Brown were also lured to Manly. Ko r o i s a u a n d
Br o w n said Barrett had nothing to do with the move.
As for who he thought he would be playing under at Manly, Koroisau said: “I thought he ( Barrett) was going to be ( coach) when everything took off, but I couldn’t be certain. ‘‘ We’ll have to see what happens, especially now with Toovey getting a couple of wins under his belt.’’
