Terror system change

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

AUSTRALIA is set to adopt a new, five- tier terrorism alert warning system by the end of the year.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott will tomorrow brief the premiers and chief ministers at the leaders’ retreat about planned changes to the National Terrorism Threat Advisory System. The system is used by Australia’s security agencies to provide the Government with classified security information, which it uses to inform the public about the threat level. The current system has four terrorism alert levels – low, medium, high and extreme. The likely new system will have five levels – not expected, possible, probable, expected and certain.
