Teaching townies about challenges
RURAL lobby group AgForce is launching a social media campaign to help city slickers appreciate where their food and fibre comes from.
AgForce general president Grant Maudsley said the # FriendsofAg campaign aims to build an understanding and awareness among urban consumers about the issues and challenges of farming.
“We want people to understand that when they eat a steak, buy a loaf of bread or clothing made from wool, challenges are overcome to grow the product, transport it and process it,” Mr Maudsley said.
“That might be drought, a road bottleneck or a government policy that costs farmers time and money.”
The campaign will use Twitter and Facebook to provide daily information for the next month, leading up to the Brisbane Ekka. To keep up- todate with the campaign follow @ FriendsofAgQLD on Twitter.
