Cops calm crime fear

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

KIRWAN police were out yesterday allaying fears of some of the city’s most vulnerable. After a recent spate of break- ins in retirement villages, police were putting minds at ease, saying they were not being targeted, as well as reminding them to be vigilant in locking their homes and putting their valuables out of sight. Kirwan officer- in- charge Senior Sergeant Brenton Webb said retirement villages were not being specifically targeted by burglars, but it was important for people to “lock it or lose it”. “It’s important to reassure them and allay any fears that they had,” he said. “The residents loved it, they enjoy the police coming around and speaking with them.”
