Curious shark no fan of a Fanning feast

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

AS someone who knows a bit about the area where Mick Fanning had the shark scare I would like to add my comment.

Firstly Mick Fanning is a very lucky person BUT if the shark was a four metre great white as reported then it didn’t want Mick on the menu. If it was a serious attack then he would have been dead by now.

Attacks usually come from below the person as the shark comes from depth upwards to its prey.

This shark was most likely curious as to who else was in the area and came into contact with his ankle rope which then caused the shark to panic, a bit like Mick really.

A scared shark and a flustered Mick made a newsworthy spectacle but he was not on the menu.

He’s behind you Mick.
