Slater eyes extra duty
MELBOURNE Storm star Billy Slater will consider undergoing two blocks of preseason training before Christmas to help launch into 2016 as his contract talks with the club continue.
The Test fullback underwent season- ending shoulder surgery last month.
Slater will remain in a sling for another three weeks before starting a six- week rehabilitation program.
The 32- year- old said he fully intends to start the 2016 season in the best shape possible after the disappointment of having this year cut short.
“We will then step things up from there ( after rehab ends), which will be three months post- operation,” Slater said.
“Maybe I’ll sit down and work out whether I do two blocks of pre- season before Christmas or one longer one.”
