Study award helps youth battling due to cancer

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

CANCER Council Queensland is helping young Queenslanders affected by cancer pursue their dreams by assisting financially with postsecondary education.

This week we’re calling on young Queenslanders to seize the day and apply for their share of $ 50,000 to kick- start their careers.

Cancer Council Seize The Day Study Awards, ranging from $ 300 to $ 2500, can assist with the costs incurred during post- secondary education and training, including the cost of textbooks, stationery, transport and accommodation fees.

We know it’s the small things that can make the world of difference to young people faced with adversity – and hope these awards help young Queenslanders achieve their dreams.

Applications for Cancer Council Queensland’s 2015 Seize the Day Study Awards are open to Queenslanders aged 16 to 21 who have been impacted by cancer personally, or have family members affected by the disease.

All Queenslanders affected by cancer need our support, and the support of the community, to cope with the challenges of diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Our Seize the Day Study Awards are an important part of our commitment to supporting youth in Queensland.

Apply for your study grant at cancerqld. org. au or by calling 13 11 20 Cancer Support and Information. Applications close at 5pm on Friday, July 31.

KATIE CLIFT, Cancer Council Queensland
